The Role of Imaging in Diagnosing Polyarticular Joint Pain
Inflammatory markers like erythrocyte sedimentation rate are not specific but can help suggest inflammatory arthritis. When it comes to septic arthritis, lack of elevation is not sufficient to rule out infection if there's clinical suspicion. Low-tighter antinuclear antibodies are present in about 30% of healthy persons. Joint aspiration can be useful for a few different diagnostic paths such as differentiating septic arthritis from reactive arthritis.
