Sematic Mutation Rates Are a Cause of Aging

The naked mole rat is about 23 thousand times smaller than a giraffe, but they both live for around 20 to 30 years. They have nearly identical somatic mutation rates. The team wants to expand their study as far and wide across the tree of life as possible. If one could lower the sematic mutation rate, that could be a very effective way to do things at lower cancer risk or slow the aging process.
