The Importance of Having a Letter From a Wireless Alum

I find them often sort of like the high school teacher just showing bad judgment and therefore not always not disqualifying necessarily, but really just detracting from the many positive things in an application. I've read a fair amount of recommendations from longtime family friends. And it's like they can't resist the urge to tell us about anecdotes about middle school soccer. Rule of thumb: Just avoid the recommendation from a family friend who has never worked with you in an academic or professional context.
