Tyler's Story

LZ Granderson: I didn't know one black woman, not one that wasn't abused. LZ: My father would beat the hell out of me every chance he got. But being a writer helped me to find my catharsis in a lot of things. And so all the things that my father was doing, I realized he was teaching me how to be a father just in reverse. So if I did, the opposite of everything he did, I had my answers. He need to hear that. It's really important for him and many other young black men who haven't been fathered.
