There's also it could be real estate, ongoing businesses or oil and gas. The hedge funds are basically just trading. They're going to make money on it but that one out of ten is going to be a hundred X. Even the VC funds they typically have multiple investments so if you're going into a fund I think that's why a lot of people like it rather than picking one startup and investing your IRA.
