Social Trust in the United States

In the 19 sixties, over 70 % of americans said they trusted government in washington always or most of the time. By the early 19 nineties, the number had fallen below 30% and it has collapsed to 17%. In our politically polarized age, we trust each other less simply based on how we vote. But again, coming back to cultural differences, it's not like that everywhere. We're talking specifically about surveys in America. The netherlands, for instance, had pretty similar levels of social trust in the 19 eighties,. but whereas we have now drifted downwards, the netherlands has drifted upwards close to 70%, according to a recent survey.
