pull requests are, they're absolutely the perfect venu for these type of jokes. It doesn't even need to be for the wider internet. You can just raise a p r for your internal project and tag your butties on it. I think youyou hit the nail in the head when you said that it got coopted by a marketing interest. So that's what it becomes primarily now, is just like a way of pushing a marketing agenda.
