I Don't Like a for Last Name

In Japan, it's common to be called by your last name. Is that true in japan too? Or is it just like in the us,. If you're on a sports team, i think it's common for people to call each other by their last name. But i gess i don't like a for last name. An opista. We don't name don't name manders.
