Wesley Hill argues that if we assume the later doctrinal expressions of the Trinity, we can fruitfully read and understand the New Testament in light of them. And I think he's got some, a very good point to make, and I love how he deals with subordinationist language in the book. But it's not for me, who's primarily a historical critical reader of the New Testament. It's lacking in a robust enough engagement with the conceptuality and network of ideas inherent in Paul. In fact, I think that's the common denominator in many ways to all of these views.
