The Public Library's Privatization

By October of 2010, LSNS operated 67 branch libraries across 15 communities in the United States. The company is majority owned by Islington Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in Massachusetts. A 2013 pupil found 94% approval ratings for public libraries. But media rarely went far enough in condemning private enterprises robbery of or local government's financial abandonment of this beloved public good.
