As an investigator, I've gotten to watch how the experiments I run actually reflect where my practice is. The more you learn about the brain, the more you just are humbled and awed by the complexity of the system that we're walking around with using to perceive the world all the time. When I was a PhD student, I never would have been asking questions about what does the brain look like in a maximally dualistic versus a non-dualistic state because I thought there were probably three people on earth who could do anon-dual type of meditation.
