Some scholars have taken issue with your focus on the war on drugs and non violent drug offences. John faff in his book locked in, says that only about 16 % of state prisoners are serving time on drug charges. It is true that roughly half of the people who are held in state prisons to day have been convicted of offences that are labelled violent.
