Riot on Sunset Strip
The riot on sunset strip was a minor skirmish between the police and young people of ala. The city council had introduced various heavy handed restrictions, including a ten p m curfew for all young people in the area. This would not normally be an event that would be remembered even a year later, let alone nearly 60 years later. But sunset strip was the centre of the american rock music world in the period and of the broader youth entertainment field. Among those orested at the riot, for example, were jack nicholson and peter fonder, neither of whom were huge stars at the time.
