Is Java Compiler Magic Going On?
LISP protocols act as an adapter to other data structures that don't yet implement the behavior directly. They are like adapters except they do not require wrappers. In terms of calling normal methods, closer is the same speed as Java that emits the same bytecode. The big performance difference with Java is that numbers are always boxed.
