Is There a Difference Between Classical and New Translations?
I think one of the things that Plato does for philosophy too is that he makes it very readable and enjoyable. I do think that the translator plays a big role. If you get one of these Oxford-y kind of translators from the early 20th century, I know my students have a hard time reading and relating to it. More contemporary translations, they can, you know, they'll enjoy it more and then they'll stick with it.
