The Null Hypothesis and the H1 Hypothesis
In the traditional way, you would have your hypothesis and your null hypothesis. And then you would check to see whether your hypothesis is favored using your data. In astrophysics, we wouldn't actually use that phrasing. We would just quote the number, the probability of impact,. Rather than actually phrasing it as, you know, we have rejected the null hypothesis that it misses earth.
