The Orthodox Church of America has an article on their website where they talk about hell. They say that Hebrews 12 talks about God as a consuming fire. That fire for the saints is purging of the sins. It takes off our sins, but it's also liberating and freeing. The hardest part I have experienced is getting to the point of saying, 'I messed up'
