Lice and the Infectious Bacteria
Lice are very susceptible to dehydration. Their poop, which contains the infectious bacteria, is really dry and powdery. They have to blood feed like five times a day, every day, for weeks on end. And while they're doing that in our blood stream, they pick up these recetia. These bacteria can infect the louse gut,. lining the cells that line the lices gut, their ethelial cells, directly. The bacteria gets into the feces and then is transmitted to us when we scratch that dry, flaky poop into all our bite wounds or rub it into our eyes or nose, et cetera.
