The memo resurfaced five years later in the most unexpected way. George Clooney had recently launched an NGO focused on Sudan, specifically Darfur. He'd had an epiphany of his own, and it had to do with the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. The violence there ended after 100 days because the world watched it happen. But with the genocide in Sudan, there was almost no coverage.
