Central Arizona Project Water Transfer Project
The Central Arizona Project is the largest, most expensive water transfer project ever constructed in the US. It can transport 1.5 million acre feet of the Colorado River from Lake Havasu on the western side of Arizona all the way across the state and then down to Tucson. The idea behind it was agriculture would always be the biggest user of Central Arizona Project water because farmers were over-drawing groundwater supply.
