Pong-like games have been independently invented at least three times, depending on which sources you want to trust and who you think is a liar. The first electronic digital arcade cabinet shows up in late 1971; the Magnavox Odyssey hits the scene just about a year later. There isn't really an era where arcade games exist totally separate from home games. But there are some major differences between the two markets.
