The Principle of Unity in the Teaching of Mathematics and Physics
The pamphlet is a wonderful guide for teaching math in a way that corresponds to the natural needs of a child's being. It created a start point for stimulating reform in the method of teaching mathematics and physics from early childhood to the highest levels of instruction. The whole point is that everything arithmetic conveys externally to children, even counting destroys something in the human organism. We are taught to count through an arbitrary juxtaposition of units. To begin with a unit and add to it piece by piece merely destroys thehuman organism.
