The End of a Relationship
One gets the impression from this book that he returns to the same events to describe them from different perspectives. He's incredibly aware of a phrase or an image that he may have seen or he may have heard somebody say, like the phrase so long see you tomorrow in fact. That he then lodges in his head for reasons he can't understand and the writing becomes a way of exploring why that should be. And it's also about something lost within that phrase because it's the end of a relationship even though he doesn't know it at the time.
