What Are the Downsides of an Annuity?
There is a downside that we should talk about with annuities that you don't have by keeping your money in a portfolio. With a regular, generic vanilla annuity, when you pass away, you you forfeit the money so the income stream ends. Warren buffet has a beautiful quote in which he says that he wants to give his kids enough money they could do anything,. but not so much that they could do nothing.
