i completely agree with, i think, everything jon said. The arguments against reductionism are based on a confusion that philosophers can help dispel if they pay attention. On the other side, i am very puzzled by how non reductionist is supposed to be thinking about things. I'm desperate to say things, but i'll hold off and let barry share some thoughts.
