Is Feedback a Gift?
As an Asian American woman, there's a few archetypes that we deal with. You're either expected to be this model minority myth and never challenge anyone or you're a dragon lady. And so I remember just trying to make myself as small as possible, completely small. The feedback was swift. Dragon lady, ego, bitch. At first I was like, Oh, no, not me. I'm the good Asian. But then I sat with it and I did the work. And I thought, Oh, Vicki, you're you're playing these characters. And it's tiring. And you don't have time for this anymore.
