The Mythology of Uruk
Hymns, prayers and rituals has its origins very much in the cultic centre of these cities. And gradually by capturing spoken language they start to use writing to develop and record other ways of thinking. For Uruk itself the texts always refer back to the great goddess in Anna. But really to understand some of the ideas around the goddess herself we have to look at texts that have survived outside of Uruk themselves.
