Does Section 230 Protect ChatGPT?

The Lawfare Podcast

CHAPTER

Is Section 230 the Right Way to Go?

I worry about what would happen if we build an online ecosystem where only the non-controversial folks with majority attributes get to speak. And I worry that any regulation, at least when it comes to section 230, will only make their internet services jobs harder in trying to get to that ultimate pro-social result. If Congress wanted to make a law that, make a federal criminal law that punishes services for algorithms that result in some sort of harm, like directing people to buy fentanyl on some service, or chat GPT was sharing with folks how they can make a bomb and something like that, that would probably be a better direction than to go through 230.
