Early Christians overwhelmingly used the Septuagint they didn't use the Hebrew manuscripts and so when we look in the New Testament most of the quotations from the Hebrew Bible are quotations of the Greek translation which is why they frequently differ. They were so convinced that theSeptuagint was the true version of the scriptures that you have a lot of accusations that the Jewish folks have altered the text of the Bible to make it less messianic, he says.
