In the Latin translation, the two characters are just called Magister and Diskipurios. The basic answer is given only a few pages later. This way of describing the purpose of mankind is awfully intellectualist. Yet Ingabirol also wrote the ethical treatise on the improvement of character. That much briefer work is far less intellectualist, at least at first glance.
