i like to reward students with something that's fun. Knowing that professor gunderson will do a cart wheel if we get a hundred porset accuracy on our eye clickers motivates me in the sense of, i love watching my professors goof off sometimes. They're not is robots throwing information out at you. So seeing her do a cartwheel cause she's so excited that hor entire class got the question raised. It's alsam. Do you ever notice that there are students who refrain from those discussions? Or are you achieving 100 % participation? I'm certainly not able to see everyone oute there. But if there is a person who prefers not to, that is their choice.
Brenda Gunderson shares approaches for motivating large classes on episode 160 of the Teaching in Higher Ed podcast.
