The Mentor in the Heroine's Journey
In most pantasy literature, and in joseph campbell's template for the hero's journey, the mentor is a man. In mata says, it's fitting that athena plays a part in establishing the archetype of the mentor because athena is not like the other goddesses. To day, super heroes are the closest thing we have to greek mythology. Of them are actually based on greek myths. And the way mentorships have played out with super heroes in comics and live action adaptations has led to some really interesting story lines.
