How to Be Prepared for a Bear Attack
Only one to three fatal bear attacks occur each year, including brown bears and black bears. Most attacks were female bears protecting their cubs. You need to avoid eye contact and walk away slowly. If you have bear spray, use it. In the worst case situation, if they make physical contact, you should roll up into a ball and protect your vital organs.
