Craft was a few hundred feet further up the mountain than his friends Bart Peachule and Jeff Moskowitz. He heard shouts of bear and then sounds of a struggle. As he comes down over a crest, Craft sees Bart lying crumpled on the ground. His left wrist is a skew from what appears to be a severe fracture. The blood stains the snow around him.
