Jeffrey Toobin: If we make this sharp distinction between new and old, then it can be very difficult for us to take the right messages from the Mosaic Law. And does strike me as significant that some of these things that we've mentioned have gone to a large extent in the New Covenant? He says there seems to be a sense in which forgiveness is baked into the new covenant in a way that it wasn't baked into previous covenants.Toobin: The system of forgiveness must have always been somehow separate from the mosaic law. But now it's here present kind of baked into the very fabric of the new covenant, which is a difference.
