Is There a Barrier to Mental Health?
The mental health system in Australia is broken, says Jordan Palsey. It only works for people who already have financial and community support to get help. The minute you get into any kind of intersection or identities your ability to get treated by the system goes through the floor. We want an increase in at that level of rebate for psychologists and psychiatrists if they bulk bill their patients. And we also want to seea federal government an investment in placements - because there's a significant difference between the number of people that study to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist and the numbers that actually get to do it.
