SIO360: How Gravitational Lensing Helps Us Understand the Universe

Serious Inquiries Only

CHAPTER

The Euclid Telescope and the Curvature of the Universe

The plan of the Euclid telescope is to gather data on a very large number of source objects that we imagine are being lens by all of the mass between us and them looking at maybe a third of the sky overall. And then we throw in other science we know as well to try to figure out which solution to the nature of the universe makes things fit the data we have the best. Hopefully that'll give us a very good constraints on this parameter lambda and tell us is dark energy plausibly a cosmological constant or not. Also give a state on a lot of other parameters that I haven't even discussed here.
