The Effects of Undoing After a Traumatic Event

Those who were still undoing the event were more distressed than those who had reportedly never undone the actions in their mind. Those last two groups were basically equal to each other as far as distress goes. So having undone at one time doesn't mean you'll be worse or better off than someone who didn't use counterfactuals at all. What it does show is that undoing may at least partially be a distress-driven cognitive process.
