Farming in the Soviet Union
There were thousands of uprisings against collectivization all across the agricultural areas of the soviet union. In general, people did not want to go from controlling their own livelihoods to essentially being employees of state run farms. The prices set by the state were often lower than what people had been able to sell their surplus for before. And this included taxing independent farms so heavily that the farmers wound up in debt and went bankrupt.
