The Otherness of the Temple

The traditional religious way of thinking about otherness and the unknown is that it's a pure excess that overwhelms our understanding something that cannot be put into words or experience. But in many ways there's something even more for the infant for even getting the religion but for the infant there are experiences that cannot be symbolized. And so this yawning emptiness can be anxiety producing but it's also holds out a kind of promise of encounter with something we don't expect we don't know how to name.
