David Perry: We don't want to accept this, but words are gender. There are a lot of words in our language which are gendered. And there are words that explicitly as many girls are growing up. As women, we're actually explicitly told not to behave in those manners. But for the majority of us, we would look at a job listing like that and say I could be the best candidate for it. It doesn't mean that you've now been made to apply if these words aren't used. In fact, research from Textio shows that men won't use such words because they think people will reject them.
