The Evolution of Cooperation

The key theoretical concept is the concept of interdependence. In Darwinian evolution, individuals have to look out for themselves. But if there's only one female in a group that will be my mating partner, then my reproductive success is 100% dependent on that individual. So more specifically, humans needed to collaborate with others to get food. They were out-competed by other monkeys, especially terrestrial monkeys like baboons.
