"I always wanted to be a leader for me. I was just kind of drawn into these situations where I knew that there was like, I don't know if you want to call it a natural leadership quality," she says. "It really gave me the opportunity to just build a sense of self for the first time." She now works with families in pre-appointment and post-appointment support.
