If you were a knee can investor, any money in the market, 30 years later, you're still under water. The question I like to ask is when did the market last hit that, that 29 peak before it finally pulled away from the gravitational field? And the answer was 1991. There are four periods in the 20th century where you can find a peak, draw a horizontal line across the inflation adjusted S and P and hit that exact same price as a bottom.
