The Scariest Part of Independent Publishing
The first friends, of course, is when something becomes your job. You lose a little bit of joy in the process. The financial part was less scary just because I had been doing it for a number of years at that point and was making quite a bit more of my books than I was from my day job. And again, it was the Wild West. Back then it was just a bunch of those crazy kids writing stories that we used to tell ourselves as we went to sleep. Now it's much more of a machine. It'smuch more of a business.
