The Virtue of Nuance in Sociology

In the field of sociology that nuance is typically conceived as being a sort of inherent or presumed virtue of sociological approaches. Kieran Healy wants to talk about how that is not the case and that we should actually investigate the virtue or lack of virtue of nuance. And it falls into some traps, right? Three traps that it falls into. The three traps are what he calls the fine grained trap, which is basically that nuance is kind of like the tendency towards ever more detailed, merely empirical descriptions of the world. It's a rejection of theory masquerading as increased accuracy.
