The Importance of Listening Longer
The book of Deuteronomy is the great Torah exercise in continuing listening. If Israel had not listened longer, it would have not known that the God of Sinai turns out to be the God of Hisid and Amunah and Raham. In chapter 23, you can't charge interest on loans to your neighbors. And in chapter 24, if you make a loan to a poor person, you can take the one coat the poor person has for collateral and you can keep it for collateral all day.
