Dr. Blood is a fat, old, red-faced alcoholic. On his office wall is a poster of a warty man-sized frog. Dr. Blood always orders the girls to look at the frog right before he needles them. He takes her temperature and hears about the puking, lack of appetite and diarrhea. Gretel says, is it my appendix? What? He says, no. She has Mars virus. In five days, he says, she'll be ship-shaped.
