The Death of the Hobby

How frequently do you get stamped mail anymore? My 79 year old father goes to stamp shows because one of his hobbies is to buy sheets of old but common unused stamps for less than face value. Too bad, sending paper letters with vintage but still valid stamps never caught on with the hipsters. If letters are not interesting, why would stamps be? Nobody uses cash and getting a pile of coins with no significant value, inflation, is just an annoyance. These objects have passed into a relevance. But it seems like some little pieces of joy and wonder have passed from our lives.
