Bacon and Descartes believed in this idea of having observations and intellect respectively. They're both saying that these are authoritative sources of knowledge. So we need somewhere to put the blame so to speak for where the errors come from. And what they're saying is that, well, it's the human being whose mind makes errors. However, they're setting up authorities. There is no such source. All of them, all of these ways of getting channels of information, which we can decode in some way to find out something about the structure of reality by constructing knowledge,. Popper says.
